MY STORY
I represent the fourth generation of artists on my mom’s side of the family. My dad is also a professional artist. I always had the opportunity to practice art as a child. I sold paintings as early as 11 years of age when my family had their gallery at the local fair. I remember a few kind parents of my friends buying my paintings for $10 which quickly turned into treats and fun memories.
As I grew older, other interests like music and sports took my time and I didn’t paint much for several years. That changed after I married my wife. On a trip that reignited my passion, we discovered galleries showcasing vibrant oil and acrylic paintings. My family had always done traditional work, but this bold new medium was incredibly appealing. That very week, I bought my first acrylic paints and spent countless hours exploring this style. I loved it. Thus began my artistic journey.
I painted for many years as a secondary pursuit but took the plunge into full-time art in my studio. What an amazing opportunity to immerse myself in a vibrant creative community. Now I create from my dedicated space where the stunning Pacific Northwest views inspire my work daily. I will never tire of painting these landscapes that surround me.
I love how light transforms everyday objects—from cityscapes and buildings to plants, trees, and paths—creating dynamic shadows and rich colors. One of my favorite subjects is sunlight filtering through trees onto roads, rivers, or sidewalks. It invites the viewer into the scene. Whether working from photographs or en plein air, I blend fine art photography, vector precision, abstract expression, and deco influences to create pieces that are aesthetically compelling rather than mere duplication.
I’m thankful to have studied under masterful artists and continue to draw inspiration from my family legacy. My wife walks this artistic path with me daily as my greatest supporter, and our family fuels my creative drive.
